Tau Beta Pi/SAE Engineering Scholarship

Tau Beta Pi Association, the engineering honor society, is the world's largest engineering society. Founded in 1885 at Lehigh University in 1885 by Edward Higginson Williams Jr. Tau Beta Pi has initiated more than 610,000 members in 136 years. Active collegiate chapters exist on 250 campuses across the nation.

The purpose of the Tau Beta Pi is to recognize engineering students of superior scholarship and exemplary character and to foster a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges. Headquartered in Knoxville, TN, the Association's largest national philanthropy is its fellowship program, which has provided $7,809,000 in advanced-study grants to 1,706 students, and the scholarship program that has provided $6,557,000 in awards to 3,369 engineering seniors.

  • Incoming Freshman
  • Minimum unweighted 3.75 grade point average
  • Pursue an engineering or related science degree through an ABET accredited program
  • Provide two (2) Letters of Recommendation - one (1) that focuses on academics and one (1) that speaks to your involvement in extra-curricular activities or employment
  • Applicant must detail their participation in a community service project during their junior or senior year that is not related to a high school project.  Please outline the role played and contributions made.  Applicant will also outline their leadership traits

  • Six scholarships valued at $1,500 each will be awarded for the freshman year only.
  • Recipients of SAE scholarships will be notified by July.
  • This scholarship will be paid into your account at your selected university in July/August.
  • It can be used for tuition or any other incidental school expenses.

Applications for the 2023/24 academic year have closed. Applications for the 2024/25 academic year will open February 1, 2024.
