Powerplant Installation Level Fire Safety Assessment
The aviation industry created this information report to provide a means for evaluation of fire test anomalies such as post-test burning and back-side burning during fire tests of powerplant components and nacelles.
Rationale: Pass/fail criteria for fire tests of powerplant and propulsion system components have been defined to be clear and determinate to provide the fire test laboratory a means of evaluating success without any ambiguity. However, anomalies can occur, which need to be evaluated post-test by the applicant and the legislator. This document provides a methodology to assess the acceptability of fire test results that do not completely satisfy the set pass/fail criteria.
