This specification details requirements and procedures for the detection of defects in aircraft structural and engine components during maintenance and overhaul operations.
Rationale:
AMS2647F is a Five-Year Review and update of this specification. This revision proposes a title change, adds a reference and definition for Method A(W) penetrants and includes a new paragraph defining penetrant process restrictions for aerospace hardware. Terminology has been updated throughout to remain consistent with AMS2644. Process controls have been updated to include Method C penetrant materials. Editorial changes are also in included throughout to include replacing “light meter” with the more accurate term “photometer.” Terminology has been updated throughout to remain consistent with AMS2644. This revision also addresses technical negatives received from the first ballot 21 April 2021.
