This specification covers pyrometric requirements for equipment used for the thermal processing of metallic materials. Specifically, it covers temperature sensors, instrumentation, thermal processing equipment, correction factors and instrument offsets, system accuracy tests, and temperature uniformity surveys. These are necessary to ensure that parts or raw materials are heat treated in accordance with the applicable specification(s).
Rationale:
AMS2750F results from a Five-Year Review and update of the specification. Technical changes have been made that resolve issues that were found in the previous revision. Resolution requirements for recording instruments have been updated to be able to demonstrate that the equipment meets the accuracy tolerances of Table 7 when using the percentage instead of the numerical tolerance.
AMS2750F is a complete rewrite. Therefore, there are no change bars to indicate specific changes from the last revision.
The use of Fahrenheit versus Celsius temperatures and Imperial versus SI measurement units has been changed from °F (°C) to °F or °C and Imperial units (SI units) to Imperial units or SI units to reflect the requirements for users working to Fahrenheit/Imperial units and the requirements for users working to Celsius/SI units.
NOTE: Some requirements are precise conversions while others are approximate conversions (see 8.2).
