Rationale: Typical industrially used, high strength aluminum alloys are not able to be used in additive manufacturing (AM) off the shelf. This alloy utilizes additives to prevent solidification cracking typically seen in AM of aluminum alloys and achieves properties comparable to that of 6061 wrought. A specification will provide guidelines for control of production, processing, and evaluation of components for aerospace applications.
