This document is to provide a general understanding of aircraft tire constructions and characteristics and how they relate to the decision-making process in selecting a tire. In addition, guidance on qualification requirements is addressed.
Rationale: Outside of the tire manufacturers, the aviation landing gear industry has requested additional guidance in selecting tires when designing aircraft and what is required for qualification.
