Solid State Power Controller, General Standard For
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) covers the general requirements for the design, manufacture, and test of Solid State Power Controllers (SSPCs) of both dc and ac ratings for use in electrical power systems. SSPCs conforming to this standard are intended for use in controlling the making and breaking of power circuits for electrically operated equipment and devices, and for providing overload and short-circuit protection.
Rationale: This document was created to fill the need for a solid state power controller (SSPC) standard in the aerospace industry. SSPC use has become common practice within the industry. Presently there are no known guiding documents addressing these requirements. The document will define the minimum electrical, environmental, and reliability requirements for these devices in aerospace applications.
