Solid State Power Controller, General Standard For
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) covers the general requirements for the design, manufacture, and test of Solid State Power Controllers (SSPCs) of both dc and ac ratings for use in electrical power systems. SSPCs conforming to this standard are intended for use in controlling the making and breaking of power circuits for electrically operated equipment and devices, and for providing overload and short-circuit protection.
Rationale: New features and standards now apply to these devices. This next revision will update the document to better match current SSPC technology. Another key issue is to convert this specification into more of a performance spec rather than dictating a mechanical features or a package style. This will likely remove or at least change the qualification testing section of the document (Whether QPL applies will be a topic of discussion in the working group) The new spec will point to the ARC Fault specs as applicable.
