Free Motion Headform Impact Tests of Heavy Truck Cab Interiors
This SAE Recommended Practice describes the test procedures for conducting free motion headform testing of heavy truck cab interior surfaces and components. A description of the test set-up, instrumentation, impact configuration, target locations, and data reduction is included.
Rationale: NHTSA's report to Congress noted that J2424 lacked definition of impact locations and approach angles, as with light vehicle in TP-201U. The purpose of this planned revision is to assess the possibility of defining a set of impact locations and approach angles for the diverse range heavy trucks, that adds value and clarity with practicality.
