Taxonomy and Definitions for Terms Related to Automated Driving System Behaviors and Maneuvers for On-Road Motor Vehicles
The purpose of this document is to provide definitions, taxonomies, and best practices for behaviors and maneuvers of on road automated driving systems (ADSs) for automation levels 3 (?Conditional Automation?), 4 (?High Automation?), and 5 (?Full Automation?).
Rationale: Defining behaviors and maneuvers is an important step towards developing validation and verification methods, minimal risk maneuver requirements, reference architecture and interfaces, and ADS definitions beyond SAE J3016. This information report serves to advance a framework and common language for behaviors and maneuvers that can support ADS deployment, for example through reducing mixed use of terms and redundancies in the literature.
