Battery State of Health for Electrified Vehicles
J3257
The standard will define a measure of customer-facing electrified vehicle battery State of Health (SOH) and provide a standard method for calculation and procedure for verifying accuracy.
Rationale: To drive confidence in the electrified vehicle market, reliable consumer communication of battery degradation and expected remaining battery life is needed. This communication and metric should be standardized to the extent possible across vehicle manufacturers to provide an easily understood indication of battery health to consumers.
Global regulators are introducing requirements for SOH accuracy and transparency, as well as minimum durability requirements. This J-standard will provide a standardized approach to the SOH indication and accuracy verification.
