Hydraulic Hose Pin Hole Sleeve Testing Information Towards Development of a Test Method

This SAE Technical Report documents efforts toward developing a Test Method for the evaluation of hose protection sleeves used in hydraulic fluid power applications.
These sleeves are intended for general application and hydraulic systems on industrial equipment and commercial products. These sleeves shall be capable of providing protection to pin hole failures in hydraulic systems operating to working pressures specified by the manufacturer. Hose assembly burst containment is not in the scope of this document.
Rationale: This Informational Report documents the works and supporting testing that was done towards the goal of developing a Test Method for a hydraulic hose Pin Hole Sleeve protective product. Although the testing and test criteria is well developed, the current Project Lead retired and not longer had access to test lab equipment. At this time, no one had the resources or the time to spend on continuing the project. Committee decision was to cancel the existing project (C2-J343-11-02) and release an Informational Report documenting what has been accomplished to date.
