Rationale:
This document provides information updated since the prior revision issued May 2011. Areas included are document references, adding citations for Twenty Hour Capacity Test, SAE J3060 Automotive and Heavy Duty Storage Battery Vibration, and SAE J2981 Starter Battery Identification and Classification, adding/revising procedures for temperature control during Charging and revising the recombinant/AGM Charging procedure to provide greater consistency of recharge and to improve alignment with other international standards and specifications. In addition, the Vibration Test, Terminal & Hold-Down definitions and drawings have been removed and are included in SAE J2981 Starter Battery Identification and Classification and the J3060 Automotive and Heavy Duty Storage Battery Vibration test standards.
