The Automated and Connected Commercial Vehicles Committee is organized under the SAE Truck-Bus Council Total Vehicle Steering Committee and has the responsibility to initiate, develop, review and approve the SAE Technical Reports (Standards, Recommended Practices, and Information Reports) related to automated/autonomous/connected commercial vehicle systems. Vehicle types comprising these systems include vans, utility vehicles, trucks, truck tractor combinations, trailers and buses over 10,000 lbs. GVWR. The committee shall explore the varying needs and opportunities related to standards development for ACVS with the objective of systematically integrating relevant aspects of safety, communications, human factors, sensors, performance and powertrain elements recognizing the significant interdependence of these systems in relevant standards development. This scope of work is done on behalf of the Total Vehicle Steering Committee, SAE Truck-Bus Council, the Technical Standards Board, and to serve the best interests of the public.
