The SAE Truck and Bus Automated Commercial Vehicle Advisory Group reports to the Truck and Bus Council, advises Truck and Bus TBC steering committees on Automated/Autonomous/Connected activities and needs, and liaisons with relevant ACV organizations within and outside of SAE. The role of the Advisory Group is to serve the industry, the public, and the government by identifying; overarching theme topics and organizational elements to address performance, safety, communications, and equipment related to automated commercial vehicles and systems of vehicle comprised of medium and heavy trucks, truck-tractors, trailers and buses with gross vehicle weight ratings greater than 4,536 Kilogram (10,000 lbs.). It is also the role of the Advisory Group to strategically advise on the development of such Technical Reports. The goal is to provide accurate, consistent, and complete Technical Reports which lead to development of safer, better performing and more efficient vehicle components, accessories, and systems, to verify the compatibility of their interactions, and to promote capable test equipment, facilities, and instrumentation technology for use in all Technical Reports.
