The Multi-Voltage Task Force will investigate where existing SAE standards and recommended practices to not adequately address commercial vehicle’s with both 12V and >12V (but <60V) DC electrical architecture’s. Based on this investigation, the Task Force will create a proposed list of standards which should be adhered to until standards are revised or created to address this need. The Task Force will also investigate where new standards may be necessary for commercial vehicles with multi-voltage architecture regarding common labeling, identification, design methods, etc. Additionally, the o define the vision, role and work of the Truck and Bus Electrical Systems Committee with respect to proposed Multi-Voltage commercial vehicle electrical systems. • Ensure that the interconnections and components in a Multi-Voltage Electrical Power Distribution System are robust and compatible with defined Voltages. • Specify test methodology to verify electrical and electronic systems are operational and service compatible in a Multi-Voltage environment. • Specify the system component labeling and wiring distinctions within the specific Multi-Voltage systems.
