Overview
The goal of the Roadside Object Surrogate Task Force is to develop standardized requirements for roadside object surrogates (such as grass surrogate, concrete divider surrogate, curb surrogate, metal guardrail surrogate, etc.). The roadside object surrogates are representative of real objects to the sensors used in object recognition for road departure detection/mitigation systems. They can be used for the performance assessment of such in-vehicle systems (including warning, steering, and/or braking) in test track to represent real-world test scenarios/conditions. This version of the document only includes the surrogate roadside objects for vision/camera, 800-1100 nm Lidar, and 76 to 78 GHz mm wave radar sensor based object detection systems.
