Sampling and Measurement of Bleed Air Supplies from Engines or APUs
The scope of this document will consider a broader range of contaminants than ARP4418. In addition, it may provide guidance for measuring on wing, as well as in test cells, Finally, it may also discuss transient measurements, as well as steady state measurements.
The proposed Aerospace information report is intended to provide guidance for areas that are not addressed by ARP4418.The pending revision of ARP4418 is intended to provide minor editorial changes only, and not to have a change in scope, which would be necessary to address the topics in the proposed scope statement. The various groups represented on the Bleed Air Subcommittee have requested a more comprehensive list of relevant compounds with recommended detection limits than that provided by ARP4418 in this proposed AIR. In addition, there have been requests for guidance in taking measurements from engines and APU bleed air while mounted on-wing, on ground, and in-flight. Finally, there is a desire in addressing the issue of collecting data during transient operating conditions. .
