Methods for Determining the Seat Reference Point (SRP) for Seats in Transport Aircraft, Civil Rotorcraft, and General Aviation Aircraft
This SAE XXX defines acceptable methods for determining the seat reference point (SRP), and the documentation requirements for that determination, for passenger and crew seats in Transport Aircraft, Civil Rotorcraft and General Aviation Aircraft.
The methods for determining the Seat Reference Point (SRP) for aircraft seats were originally contained in AS8049 and were recently moved to ARP5526. The SRP is a feature of the seat that is used in multiple SAE aircraft seat documents, as well as, regulatory standards and guidance. These methods should be located in a separate document, which could be referenced by all other documents, where the methods can be maintained independent of changes to other documents and eventually stabilized.
