Powertrains, Fuels & Lubricants Conference & Exhibition

September 6-8, 2022 | Krakow, Poland

Reduce Emissions. Boost Fuel Economy. Enhance Powertrain Performance.

Our Powertrains, Fuels & Lubricants Conference & Exhibition returns as an in-person event after being held as a digital summit the past two years. We are excited to return safely face-to-face – bringing OEMs, suppliers, researchers, engineers, government officials, academia, and others from around the world together to discuss new and emerging technologies that are being implemented to meet emission regulations, while delivering the best, overall powertrain performance.

90% of attendees said they were likely to attend again!

What to Expect

Join us for this three-day conference in beautiful and historic Krakow, Poland. The format of this annual event will be a combination of state-of-the-art technology presentations, panel discussions, keynote presentations, hands-on exhibition, and copious face-to-face networking opportunities, including an off-site evening banquet at one of the city’s historic sites.

Who Should Attend

• Combustion technology
• Injection fuels
• Exhaust & emissions control
• Engine downsizing
• Pressure boosting
• Propulsion
• Hybrid powertrains
• Electrification
• Modeling/simulation/control
• Other developing technologies

Why You Should Attend

Unlike competitors, PF&L offers a broader scope of coverage of technology, discussion of both established and cutting-edge propulsion/powertrain and fuels technologies, plus resources from the event including presentations and papers for long-term reference. This is your opportunity to learn from and network with engine makers from around the world.

What You Will Learn

Discussions will focus on the most promising new propulsion/powertrain-related technologies for both light- medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, including;

  • General powertrain development
  • Engine combustion
  • Exhaust, aftertreatment & emissions
  • Fuels & lubricants
  • New engines components, actuators & sensors
  • Hybrid & electric powertrains
  • Transmissions & driveline technology

Topics to feature include advanced internal combustion engine technology, fuel cells, electric vehicle development, global emissions regulations, hybrids development and fuels and engine oil developments.

Dr. Piotr Bielaczyc, FSAE

Chair of the SAE PF&L Conference & Exhibition Organizing Committee

  • Department Head, Engine Research Dept. and Member of Scientific Board / BOSMAL Automotive R&D Institute Ltd. in Poland.
  • Vice-President of Polish Scientific Society of Combustion Engines (PTNSS).
  • General Chair of the Organising Committee of 2022 SAE Powertrains, Fuels & Lubricants Conference to be held in Krakow, Poland.

Dr. Piotr Bielaczyc, has become a leading researcher in the field of transport's environmental impacts. He is renowned for his expertise and experience in the ecological assessment of vehicles, aftertreatment systems and real-world emissions. He has fostered international cooperation in research and on the application of vehicle technologies.

Dr. Piotr Bielaczyc, Ph.D. is the head of the Engine Research Department at BOSMAL Automotive R&D Institute in Bielsko-Biala, Poland. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Poznan University of Technology (Poland).  From 2000 onwards he has been the Head of BOSMAL’s Engine Research Department. He has recently been involved with the validation of the WLTP and RDE test methodology; in the past 20 years he was a project manager for over 500 projects related to development of CI and SI Euro 4, 5 and 6 LD engines as well as Euro IV, V, VI HD engines , their parts and assemblies that were launched to production by automotive and engines OEMs. Several projects were also related to fuels, alternative fuels and fuel additive development.

Dr. Bielaczyc has published widely in scientific journals and is a regular participant at international automotive conferences. His research interests include LDV and HD engine development, exhaust emissions R&D, biofuels and alternative fuels, cold start emissions, emission test methods and aftertreatment solutions, vehicular particulate matter emissions, as well as hybrid and electric powertrain development.

He is a member of the UNECE GRPE group, the forum for world-wide harmonization of emissions regulation, he takes parts in WLTP, RDE, EVE and PMP groups and was a member of the EU WLTP 2nd group introducing WLTP test method in EU. He is currently also a member of the EU Advisory Group on Vehicles Emission Standards (AGVES) working on post Euro 6 and Euro VI regulations.

Over the past ten years he has organised and hosted a series of successful and well-received international automotive emissions symposia (IEES) as well as Congresses of Internal Combustion Engines organized by PTNSS.

He is a lecturer at the University of Leeds in England on its well-known NOx-PM courses; he also often lectures at other universities or scientific institutes.

He is a General chair of the SAE Powertrains, Fuels and Lubricants Conference Organizing Committee to be held in Krakow, Poland on September 22-24, 2020.
