How to publish with SAE

Non-Event Technical Papers

SAE Non-Event Technical Papers (formerly known as written-only papers) provide authors the opportunity to publish their original work outside a specific event’s production timeline and potentially outside of the scope of SAE’s journals. These papers are made available on MOBILUS®, SAE’s robust online platform on an accelerated pace after a double-blind peer-review process and are indexed in Scopus, Engineering Village (Ei Compendex), and IET Inspec. The goal is to provide authors the flexibility to publish on their own schedules, as well as a faster time to publication. Further information can be found Non-Event Technical Papers page.

Event Technical Papers

SAE event papers are published approximately a week prior to the respective event and are published on MOBILUS® and are indexed in Scopus, Engineering Village (Ei Compendex), and IET Inspec. Authors initially submit abstracts for consideration, which are evaluated by subject matter experts. If accepted, full manuscripts are required, based on a timeline for each event. Approval to publish papers will be based on organizer-moderated peer review of a review-ready manuscript. Event papers are also considered for publication in the new conference proceedings journal: SAE International Journal of Advances and Current Practices in Mobility. Calls for event papers are found Call for Papers page in the left-hand column, and details on the process are found Event Paper Process page.

SAE MobilityRxiv®

Provided by SAE International, MobilityRxiv is a free online preprint server and sharing service for English-language preprints in the mobility/transportation field. Preprints are defined as manuscripts that are preliminary reports of work that have not been peer reviewed or verified. This service allows researchers and other readers to read and comment on a manuscript immediately without waiting for formal peer review. All preprints are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), which allows for immediate citation. Visit MobilityRxiv to upload your preprints or to browse papers.

Journals

For more than 10 years, SAE International's scholarly journals have been covering all areas relevant to ground vehicle, commercial vehicle, and aerospace engineering technology, including electrified vehicles, connected and automated vehicles, electronic and mechanical systems, engines, fuels and lubricants, transportation safety, materials and manufacturing, sustainability, and vehicle dynamics. Publishing only original research (not found or published elsewhere) and with a double-blind peer-review process, our journals aim to meet the needs of academic, government, and industry authors, researchers, and readers in a manner that is tailored for the discovery, integration, and application of research. More information and links to the individual journals can be found Journals Overview page.
