SAE International Scholarly Journals

For more than 15 years, SAE International's Scholarly Journals have been covering all areas relevant to ground vehicle, commercial vehicle, and aerospace engineering technology, including transportation cybersecurity and privacy, connected and automated vehicles, electronic and mechanical systems, engines, fuels and lubricants, transportation safety, materials and manufacturing, vehicle dynamics, and alternative powertrains. SAE connects and educates mobility professionals to enable safe, clean, and accessible mobility solutions. Our Journals aim to meet the needs of academic and industry authors, researchers, and readers in a manner that is tailored for the discovery, integration, and application of research. Aligning with SAE’s mission, the Journals publish state-of-the-art research findings that advance mobility knowledge and solutions for the benefit of humanity.

Clarivate Analytics / Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) Grants SAE Impact Factors

In June 2023, the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) from Clarivate Analytics granted impact factors to eight of the SAE Journals, validating SAE's dedication to its journals, authors, and editorial boards:

ISI determines and grants impact factors (a quantitative and qualitative process of determining the best journals in the world) by evaluating content and measuring citations to each journal in the Web of Science. Authors and librarians around the world look to ISI for journal impact factors when deciding where to publish and which publications to add to their portfolios.

Improved Quality and Original Research

The SAE Journals Program publishes exclusively direct journal submissions—peer-reviewed, original, high-quality content that is not available elsewhere. Our journals follow a double anonymized peer-review process (with a minimum of three reviews required) that helps authors to enhance the manuscript’s quality and to create opportunities for authors to revise and improve their articles through a timely process dedicated to authors’ needs.

Indexing

SAE International journals are indexed by a variety of services, including Emerging Sources Citation Index in the Web of Science (ISI), Scopus, Engineering Village (Ei Compendex), JSTOR Sustainability Collection, CNKI, and IET Inspec. Full details of coverage are available on each individual journal home page.

Archiving

All SAE content on the SAE MOBILUS® platform is archived and preserved by Portico to protect customer e-resources and to ensure accessibility in perpetuity. Portico provides libraries and publishers with reliable preservation of electronic resources, ensuring that their content will be accessible to researchers, scholars, and students in the future. SAE's goals align with that of Portico: ensuring that scholars and researchers have access to content in the future, with no interruption of availability. Should a trigger event occur, access is provided for SAE's customers, whether or not they participate in Portico.

Ethics Policies

SAE is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal’s publication processes and ethics policies follow COPE guidelines.
