This SAE Recommended Practice applies to the use of generally available leak detection methods to service motor vehicle passenger compartment air conditioning systems.
Rationale:
With the publication of SAE J2970 “Minimum Performance Requirements for Non-Refrigerant Tracer Gasses and Electronic Tracer Gas Leak Detectors,” this standard is updated to incorporate the use of Non-Refrigerant Tracer Gasses and Electronic Tracer Gas Leak Detectors that meet J2970. Comments from the previous ballot have been addressed.
