Each year WCX brings experts to discuss critical challenge from hybrid/ full electric, Hydrogen  and ICE vehicles.  Around 200 hours of technical content is compiled from experts featuring case studies on technologies involved in motor and power electronics, Li-battery, fuel cells, driveline, engine boosting, fuel economy, fuel injection, and new engine development.

Body / Chassis / Occupant Protection and Pedestrian Safety / Structure

As we move from SAE levels 1-5 of automated vehicles, the criticality of occupant protection and safety as well as chassis and structure development cannot be underestimated. WCX Organizers bring critical subject matter experts from OEMs, suppliers and consultants to present at multitude of sessions on issues around human factors, biomechanics, vehicle dynamics, accident reconstruction, pedestrian, vehicle impact, crashworthiness, tires, wheels, lights and restraints. An additional session on fire safety and investigation is in development.

Materials and Lightweighting for Future Vehicle Development

Whether is MPG or MPC, WCX features sessions that are problem solving issues for future vehicle development of ICE, AVS and EV platforms to include lightweighting selection for safety and maximum fuel economy that meet consumer acceptance.  Sessions target materials such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals, composites, plastics, polymers with target focus on interior and exterior vehicle development.   Special focus is given to MMLV and materials for battery development.

Motorsports Engineering

This session focusses on the links between motorsports, the mainstream automotive industry and academia. As such, it is the forum at the WCX where ideas and knowledge involving motorsports can be exchanged between the three communities. This exchange will be accomplished by the use of featured speakers from motorsports, and presentations, both written and oral, of topics deemed to be of relevant interest to the motorsports community in general, and to students and faculty involved in engineering education.

Battery Energy Storage Systems

A comprehensive look at state-of-art battery technologies for Electrified Vehicle.  The technical program covers battery material, chemistries, modeling, simulations, testing, diagnosis, prognosis, safety, reliability, durability, battery economics/cost reduction, battery pack architecture, charging, thermal management, battery management, and controls and system integration/optimization.  The field of batteries have had great advancement over the last few years, and more are expected.  This series of sessions will address critical points to assist engineers in seeking solution to the issues associated with Battery Energy Storage Systems.
