HILS Application for Hybrid System Development 2007-01-3469

The hybrid system has the typical advantage that it can realize various types of system control, because the system has two power units, engine and motor. On the other hand, however, constraints are increasing due to the complexity of the vehicle system.
Compared to the conventional HILS construction and application, there are mainly two typical characteristics or themes for HV-HILS (i.e. HILS for hybrid vehicle control development). Firstly, HV-HILS requires full vehicle simulation environment, because the plural ECU control logic is intricately intertwined. Secondly, recent HILS system needs to run with more accurate or complicated plant models which are necessary to develop more accurate vehicle control logic.
In this paper, we will discuss firstly HV-HILS system developed in-house that would solve the above mentioned two themes, and secondly show actual application examples of the hybrid vehicle fail-safe control logic development and verification, that realizes the plural ECU quality improvement and validation. In this case, simulation done by the HV-HILS resulted in 98% agreement with the data obtained by the actual vehicle examination, and made the examination speed about 30 times faster than the conventional actual vehicle examination.
With these results, we would also like to show that this HILS is a very efficient system both to speed up the control logic development and to raise its quality further as one of the model-based development environments.
