Truck Driver's Driving Performance Assessment 2008-01-2700

Automotive electronics and sensors in vehicles are constantly increasing and hence abundant amount of information is available from these electronic subsystems. So, there is a need to analyze the data obtained from these electronic subsystems using suitable technique and generate user interpretable information. One among such application is to evaluate the driving pattern and train the driver based on the result of analysis.
This paper briefs on such a methodology to analyze the trip data obtained from sensors such as engine speed sensor, vehicle speed sensor, throttle position sensor etc. using statistical techniques mainly, and generate reports on driver performance in terms of fuel consumption, economic driving, vehicle and engine on and off time, gear utilization, trip events etc. The reports and graphs generated can be used to categorize truck driver according to the economical driving styles and to train the driver based on their driving behavior.
