Predicting Sequence VI and VIA Fuel Economy from Laboratory Bench Tests 961142

The aim of this paper is to show how a combination of bench tests measuring relevant lubricant properties allows the influence of oil formulation on gasoline engine fuel economy under different operating conditions and in different engines to be predicted. Correlations of bench test data with performance in both Sequence VI and Sequence VIA engine tests are demonstrated.
