In this paper, an innovative passive vibration suppression method, namely Vibration Control by Confinement (VCC), i[ILLEGIBLE] presented. The basic concept of VCC is mainly related [ILLEGIBLE] phenomena of “Anderson localization”. The present st[ILLEGIBLE]y is focused on the effectiveness of VCC by applying the [ILLEGIBLE]thod to the vibration suppression of a system comprise of a component resting on a beam-type supporting structur[ILLEGIBLE] The effectiveness of the three most common passive vibration suppression methods, namely absorption, isolation, and added damping, are then compared to that of VCC. Based on the results of this study it is shown that VCC is effective over a wider frequency range than those of common practices, and its performance is resonance independent. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that VCC is an effective and viable approach that not only has significantly better performance but also does not have as many limitations as current techniques.
