In this research, the mechanism of low-pressure brake squeal that occurs in the market recently was examined. And the effect of grease which decreases the level of brake squeal was clarified. Torque receiving face, which is the face of carrier contacting pads during braking, was focused on. It is clarified that elasticity modes of brake pads are excited because pads do not come in contact with the carrier sufficiently, and grease acts as viscous damper. To take measures against the squeal without grease, the retainer spring whose spring constant is optimized for low-pressure brake squeal, has been developed, and proved the benefit in the bench test.
