This is done basically to improve the quality of life in this planet. But in doing so, they have made the life in fact miserable by disturbing the ecological balance of earth. This is caused by the ill effects of various bye products produced. These are industrial waste, vehicular gaseous pollutants etc. A lot of steps are being taken to reduce the various forms of pollutants. The pollution caused by vehicles has been frequently monitored in the past few decades. Various norms are in force in different parts of the world to control this. This paper describes the development work carried out on a vehicle fitted with 2.0 litre turbocharged, intercooled IDI diesel engine to meet Euro III N1 class exhaust emission norms. The major focus of the developmental work was to achieve the results in the most cost-effective way in the shortest possible time.
