Because of the crossroad position of Bulgaria the improvement of its transport infrastructure is very important for connections in Europe and between continents. It is one of the most significant requirements for the integration of the country into the European Union. The paper presents the most important infrastructure projects in Bulgaria now and in the nearest future and how they will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the national transport system and its compatibility with the European one. Special accent is put on the financial help received by the European commission and international funds and programs.
