It is also an ideal refresher for reviewing the fundamentals of corrosion and the use of coatings as a protective mechanism against corrosion and deterioration of industrial structures.

The Basic Corrosion course provides an overview of the types of corrosion and methods by which they can be identified, prevented and controlled. The economic effects of corrosion are discussed to include both direct and indirect costs. The course highlights the basic electrochemistry, types of engineering materials, inspection and testing methods. The course also provides an introduction into methods for corrosion prevention.
