The Vehicle Noise Control Engineering Academy covers a variety of vehicle noise control engineering principles and practices. There are two concurrent, specialty tracks (with some common sessions): Powertrain Noise and Vehicle Interior Noise. Participants should choose and register for the appropriate Academy they wish to attend. The Powertrain Noise track focuses on noise and vibration control issues associated with internal combustion, hybrid and electric powered vehicles. The vehicle in this case includes passenger cars, SUVs, light trucks, off-highway vehicles, and heavy trucks.
The Vehicle Noise Control Engineering Academy covers a variety of vehicle noise control engineering principles and practices. There are two concurrent, specialty tracks (with some common sessions): Vehicle Interior Noise and Powertrain Noise. Participants should choose and register for the appropriate track they wish to attend. The Vehicle Interior Noise track focuses on understanding the characteristics of noise produced by different propulsion systems, including internal combustion, hybrid and electric powered vehicles and how these noises affect the sound quality of a vehicle’s interior.
Electric and hybrid vehicle engineers and designers are faced with the important issue of how to adequately configure required powertrain system components to achieve needed performance, occupant accommodation, and operational objectives. This course enables participants to fully comprehend vehicle architectural/configurational design requirements to enable efficient structural design, effective packaging of required components, and efficient vehicle performance for shared and autonomous operation. The importance of integrating these design requirements with specific vehicle user needs and expectations will be emphasized.
How are batteries used in the mobility industry? This three-week hybrid course introduces how batteries fit into the energy context and provides the fundamental knowledge and state-of-the-art insights into battery technologies. It will cover the key role of batteries as a tool for energy storage, the main components and parameters that characterize a battery, and the electrochemical phenomena that lie behind battery operation.
SAE Engineering Academies provide comprehensive and immersive training experiences, helping new and re-assigned engineers become proficient and productive in a short period of time. The Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Engineering Academy covers hybrid and electric vehicle engineering concepts, theory, and applications relevant to HEV, PHEV, EREV, and BEV for the passenger car industry. While the theory and concepts readily apply to the commercial vehicle industry as well, the examples and applications used will apply primarily to the passenger car industry.
