Development of a Friction Material Formulation without Metals by Taguchi Design of Experiments 2000-01-2754
In this study, the development of a friction material formulation was carried out applying Taguchi method, adapted to formulations. In a typical material development, the new formulas developed have several components (among them metals), trailed from the original matrix. Metals are the most pollutant and common components in friction materials, therefore the purpose of this study was to eliminate them from formulas. A byproduct of the study was the determination of the friction effect of several raw materials.
