Development of the Variable Geometry Inlet for the B-58 Airplane 620327
This paper describes the development of the B-58 A inlet and control. The final system is relatively simple, has very low power requirements, and provides the engine inlet with optimum performance. Pressure recovery comparisons are made between model data, full scale tests, and measured flight test data. These data correlate except for significant changes in pressure recovery performance at flight operation at the intermediate Mach numbers. Representative graphs are presented for the various tests performed.
