Oldsmobile’s New 330 Cu In. V-8 Engine 640264

A detailed discussion of Oldsmobile’s new 330 cu in. V-8 engine is presented. Though many of the fundamental dimensions of the 394 cu in. engine were suited for the new 330 cu in. engine, refinements were introduced to reduce weight, cost, and size while improving quality. These changes in materials, design, and production techniques are reviewed. Excellent engine performance has been achieved on a basis of output per pound as well as output per cubic inch of displacement.
