Decreasing of Wearing Effect of Studded Tires on Road Pavements 890030

If we would prohibit studded tires or if we would decrease the use of them, traffic accidents in winter road conditions would increase. Decrease of number of studs, speed limits of cars in winter and stud weight are the primary measures to reduce the wear of road pavements caused by studded tires. The speed reduction of 20 km/h decreases wear about 40 % and it is smaller by a half with studs weighing 1,0 g than with studs weighing 2,3 g. Stud bodies made of light material have worse wear resistance than steel body studs, but a studding to solve the problem is developed.
