The Pierburg Fuel Injector - Designed for a Wide Dynamic Control Range 890474
The requirements of a modern injector for single-point and multi-point injection, in terms of precision and width of the dynamic range, are extremely high and require injectors with a high degree of dynamics.
Therefore one of the most important features of the solenoid injector developed by PIERBURG with regard to these particular requirements, is a very small inertia of the armature. Thus the injector has a dynamic characteristic line, that can be utilized starting at lms and a dynamic range of 1:10 at 100Hz and a typical linearity deviation of appr. ± 2%.
In order to obtain these results, tests have been carried out and theoretical computing models for the description of the valve dynamics and for designing the magnetic circuit have been used. For the latter, the finite element method has successfully been applied.
In order to provide a maximum of support for the development, test rigs have been developed, that meet the particular requirements. They are able to measure very precisely e.g the dynamic behavior of the valve and to analyse the geometry of the injection jet by computer.
