Structural Adhesives for Aluminum Vehicles 960166

This paper describes adhesive technology that has been developed for structural bonding of aluminum automotive vehicles. The adhesive technology was developed as part of a design and manufacturing system for constructing automotive unibody structures from stamped aluminum sheet. The manufacturing feasibility of this technology, as will be discussed, has been substantiated by a number of automotive companies. Adhesive performance characteristics are detailed including environmental durability, fatigue resistance and impact resistance.
