2024-04-09
2024-01-2887
The tripod constant velocity joint (CVJ) has been widely used in mechanical systems due to its strong load-bearing capacity, high efficiency, and reliability. It has become the most commonly used plunging-type CVJ in automotive drive-shaft. A generated axial force (GAF) with a third-order characteristic of driven shaft speed is caused by the internal friction and motion characteristics in a tripod joint. The large GAF has a negative impact on the NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) characteristics of automobiles, and this issue is particularly prominent in new energy vehicles. A multi-body dynamic model of the Adjustable Angular Roller (AAR) tripod CVJ is developed to calculate and analyze the GAF. To describe the internal motion of the AAR tripod CVJ, the contact interactions between the roller and the track or the trunnion were modeled using non-linear equivalent spring-damping models for contact collision forces and modified Coulomb friction model for friction.

2024-01-2895
A road test on semi-trailers is carried out, and accelerations of some characteristic points on the braking system, axles, and truck body is measured, also brake pressure and noise around the support frame is acquired. The measured data was analyzed to determine the causes of the brake noise, and the mechanism of the noise of the drum brake of semi-trailers during low-speed braking was investigated. The following conclusions are obtained: (1) Brake noise of the drum brake of the semi-trailer at low-frequency is generated from vibrations of the brake shoes, axle, and body, and the vibration frequency is close to 2nd natural frequency of the axle. (2) Brake noise is generated from stick-slip motion between the brake shoes and the brake drum, where the relative motion between the brake drum and the brake shoes is changed alternately with sliding and sticking, resulting in sudden changes in acceleration and shock vibration.

2024-01-2389
To enhance the transient vibration performance of the vehicle at key on and key off, a method for optimizing mount parameters of a powertrain mounting system (PMS) is proposed. Uncertainties of mount parameters widely exist in a PMS, so a method for optimizing mount parameters of a PMS, which treats the mount parameters of a PMS as uncertain, is also proposed in this paper. Firstly, a 13 degrees of freedom (DOFs) model including car body with 3 DOFs, a PMS with 6 DOFs and unsprung mass with 4 DOFs is established, and the acceleration of the active side of mounts is calculated. An experiment is carried out to measure the accelerations located at active and passive sides of each mount and the accelerations of seat track. A comparison is made between the measured and estimated accelerations, and the proposed model is validated. Two optimization methods for the PMS are proposed based on the developed 13 DOFs model.

An Inline 4-cylinder engine is equipped with second-order balance shafts. When the engine is running under no-load acceleration conditions, the gear system of the balance shaft generated whine noise. In this paper, an analysis and experiment method for reducing the whine noise is presented. First, a flexible multi-body dynamic model of the engine is established, which includes shaft and casing deformation, micro-modification of the gears. Taking the measured cylinder pressure as input, the load on each gear of balance shaft gear system is calculated. In addition, the influence of tooth surface micro-modification on the meshed noise was analyzed. The results show that the dynamic meshing force between the crank gear and the shim gear is large under the original tooth surface micro-modification parameters, which is the main reason of the whine noise.

As an important vibration damping element in automobile, the rubber mount can effectively reduce the vibration transmitted from the engine to the frame. In this study, a method of parameters identification of Mooney-Rivlin model by using surrogate model was proposed to more accurately describe the mechanical behavior of mount. Firstly, taking the rubber mount as the research object, the stiffness measurement was carried out. And then the calculation model of the rubber mount was established with Mooney-Rivlin model. Latin hypercube sampling was used to obtain the force and displacement calculation data in different directions. Then, the parameters of the Mooney-Rivlin model were taken as the design variables. And the error of the measured force-displacement curve and the calculated force-displacement curve was taken as the system response. Two surrogate models, the response surface model and the back-propagation neural network, were established.

2023-01-0499
Electric centrifugal air compressor is one of the most important auxiliary components for the fuel cell engine, which has great impacts on the system efficiency, cost and compactness. However, the centrifugal compressor works at an ultra-high speed for a long time, which poses a great challenge to the lives of motor, bearing and seal. Therefore, reducing the rotating speed of the impeller and maintaining high pressure ratio and high efficiency are important issues for aerodynamic design of the compressor. In this paper, a centrifugal compressor rotor for a 100kW fuel cell system is designed. Aiming at reducing the rotating speed, the influences of three key structural parameters including inlet blade angle, outlet blade angle and blade outlet radius on performance are investigated. The aerodynamic performance of the compressor is predicted using the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with computational fluid dynamic (CFD) tools.

2023-01-0607
In the manufacturing of battery boxes using the aluminum extruded process, poor consistency of products and a short life of the die for making aluminum structural sections are usually observed. A new method of producing battery boxes is proposed that combines steel stamped and aluminum extruded process. This paper first describes the design requirements for a battery box using a new process, and several important issues such as weld seam arrangement and error proofing in the manufacturing process are discussed. To address the issue of weld seam arrangement, the following three principles should be considered in the design: These principles include that the profile lap angle should be above 90°, three or more beams should not be lapped too closely together, and multiple brackets in close proximity should be designed as one unit.

Robust data association is a core problem of visual odometry, where image-to-image correspondences provide constraints for camera pose and map estimation. Current state-of-the-art visual semantic odometry uses local map points semantics, building semantic residuals associated with all classes to realize medium-term tracking of points. Considering the problem of inefficient semantic data associations and redundant semantic observation likelihood model in the visual semantic odometry, we propose a visual odometry, Local Semantic Odometry (LVSO), which is integrated with medium-term semantic constraints based on local nearest neighbor distance model.

2022-01-5056
Because autonomous vehicles (AVs) equipped with active front steering have the features of time varying, uncertainties, high rate of fault, and high burden on the in-vehicle networks, this article studies the adaptive robust control problem for improving lateral stability in steer-by-wire (SBW) vehicles in the presence of abrupt nonlinear faults. First, an upper-level robust H∞ controller is designed to obtain the desired front-wheel steering angle for driving both the yaw rate and the sideslip angle to reach their correct values. Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy modeling method, which has shown the extraordinary ability in coping with the issue of nonlinear, is applied to deal with the challenge of the changing longitudinal velocity. The output of the upper controller can be calculated by a parallel distributed compensation (PDC) scheme.

2022-01-0912
The vehicle will produce certain shock and vibration during the braking process, which will affect the driving experience of the driver. Aiming at the problems of pitch vibration, longitudinal vibration and shock during the braking process, this paper proposes a planning and following control method for target longitudinal acceleration in post-braking phase, and designs control trigger strategies. Target longitudinal acceleration planning takes minimizing longitudinal shock as the design goal. The following control takes the brake pressure as the control object, and adopts the “feedforward +PID feedback” method to follow the target longitudinal acceleration. Besides, considering the safety of braking process, the trigger condition of control is designed which utilizes BP neural network method to judge whether the control has to be triggered. Based on Simulink software, the simulation model of straight-line braking is established.

2022-01-0181
Electronic expansion valve as a throttle element is widely used in heat pump systems and flow characteristics are its most important parameter. The flow characteristics of the electronic expansion valve (EXV) with a valve port diameter of 3mm are studied, when the refrigerant R134a is used as the working fluid. The main factors affecting the flow characteristics are researched by adopting the orthogonal experiment method and single factor control method, for example, inlet pressure, inlet temperature, outlet pressure and valve opening. The results show that the expansion valve opening degree has the greatest influence on mass flow rate. In view of the complicated phase change of the refrigerant passing through electronic expansion valve, it is difficult to model the flow characteristics accurately.

2022-01-0177
The silicone oil clutch is a device that uses the viscous shear force of silicone oil to transmit torque. Due to the difference in the rotational speed of the driving and driven parts, the silicone oil inside the clutch generates much heat, and the silicone oil temperature increases, resulting in a decrease in viscosity. Therefore, excellent thermal performance is necessary for silicone oil clutch to ensure torque transmission ability. This paper proposes a modeling method for analyzing the thermal performance of a silicone oil clutch. Firstly, the temperature measurement test for the silicone oil clutch is carried out by using wireless temperature measurement equipment. The driven speed, silicone oil temperature, and the temperature of different areas of the clutch shell are measured under different driving speeds.

2022-01-0258
Uniaxial fatigue tests of rubber dumbbell specimens under different mean and amplitude of strain are carried out. An Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) model optimized by Dragonfly Algorithm (DA) is proposed to predict the fatigue life of rubber based on measured rubber fatigue life data. Mean and amplitude of strain and measured rubber fatigue life are taken as input variables and output variables respectively in DA-ELM model. For comparison, genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) are used to optimize ELM parameters, and GA-ELM and PSO-ELM models are established. The comparison results show that DA-ELM model performs better in predicting the fatigue life of rubber with least dispersion. The coefficients of determination for the training set and test set are 99.47% and 99.12%, respectively. In addition, a life prediction model equivalent strain amplitude as damage parameter is introduced to further highlight the superiority of DA-ELM model.

2022-01-0301
The mount bracket is an important part of the mount system, and its dynamic characteristics will affect dynamic characteristics of the mount system, which means it will affect NVH(Noise, Vibration, Harshness) of the vehicle. Based on the large error between the test result and the finite element analysis(FEA) result, the dynamic finite element model of the mount bracket can be modified from the material parameters and the equivalent boundary of the bolt joint. In this paper, a method to identify the parameters of the mount bracket model by combining modal test, FEA, and the mathematical optimization model was presented. Firstly, based on HyperStudy platform, the optimization objective was minimizing the natural frequency error between FEA and free mode test, and the material parameters of the bracket to be identified were used as design variables to build the optimization function. The global response surface method was used for iteration to complete the identification.

In the existing literature concerning the calculation of the output speed of the silicone oil fan clutch and the silicone oil temperature, the theoretical calculation method is all adopted to establish the calculation formulas of moment transmission and silicone oil shear viscous heat by extracting the structural parameters of the clutch model, in order to solve the output speed and silicone oil temperature of the clutch under stable working state. At present, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) numerical simulation method has not been used to solve the problem. In this paper, the CFD simulation method is used for the first time.
