2024-04-09
2024-01-2844
SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) plays a key role in autonomous driving. Recently, 4D Radar has attracted widespread attention because it breaks through the limitations of 3D millimeter wave radar and can simultaneously detect the distance, velocity, horizontal azimuth and elevation azimuth of the target with high resolution. However, there are few studies on 4D Radar in SLAM. In this paper, RI-FGO, a 4D Radar-Inertial SLAM method based on Factor Graph Optimization, is proposed. The RANSAC (Random Sample Consensus) method is used to eliminate the dynamic obstacle points from a single scan, and the ego-motion velocity is estimated from the static point cloud. A 4D Radar velocity factor is constructed in GTSAM to receive the estimated velocity in a single scan as a measurement and directly integrated into the factor graph. The 4D Radar point clouds of consecutive frames are matched as the odometry factor.

Simulative Assessments of Cyclic Queuing and Forwarding with Preemption in In-Vehicle Time-Sensitive Networking

2024-04-09
2024-01-1986
The current automotive industry has a growing demand for real-time transmission to support reliable communication and for key technologies. The Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) working group introduced standards for reliable communication in time-critical systems, including shaping mechanisms for bounded transmission latency. Among these shaping mechanisms, Cyclic Queuing and Forwarding (CQF) and frame preemption provide deterministic guarantees for frame transmission. However, despite some current studies on the performance analysis of CQF and frame preemption, they also need to consider the potential effects of their combined usage on frame transmission. Furthermore, there is a need for more research that addresses the impact of parameter configuration on frame transmission under different situations and shaping mechanisms, especially in the case of mechanism combination.

2024-01-2352
In recent years, with the development of computing infrastructure and methods, the potential of numerical methods to reasonably predict aerodynamic noise in turbocharger compressors of heavy-duty diesel engines has increased. However, aerodynamic acoustic modeling of complex geometries and flow systems is currently immature, mainly due to the greater challenges in accurately characterizing turbulent viscous flows. Therefore, recent advances in aerodynamic noise calculations for automotive turbocharger compressors were reviewed and a quantitative study of the effects for turbulence models (Shear-Stress Transport (SST) and Detached Eddy Simulation (DES)) and time-steps (2° and 4°) in numerical simulations on the performance and acoustic prediction of a compressor under various conditions were investigated.

2023-01-7053
Positioning system is a key module of autonomous driving. As for LiDAR SLAM system, it faces great challenges in scenarios where there are repetitive and sparse features. Without loop closure or measurements from other sensors, odometry match errors or accumulated errors cannot be corrected. This paper proposes a construction method of LiDAR anchor constraints to improve the robustness of the SLAM system in the above challenging environment. We propose a robust anchor extraction method that adaptively extracts suitable cylindrical anchors in the environment, such as tree trunks, light poles, etc. Skewed tree trunks are detected by feature differences between laser lines. Boundary points on cylinders are removed to avoid misleading. After the appropriate anchors are detected, a factor graph-based anchor constraint construction method is designed. Where direct scans are made to anchor, direct constraints are constructed.

Electro-Hydraulic Composite Braking Control Optimization for Front-Wheel-Driven Electric Vehicles Equipped with Integrated Electro-Hydraulic Braking System

2023-11-05
2023-01-1864
With the development of brake-by-wire technology, electro-hydraulic composite braking technology came into being. This technology distributes the total braking force demand into motor regenerative braking force and hydraulic braking force, and can achieve a high energy recovery rate. The existing composite braking control belongs to single-channel control, i.e., the four wheel braking pressures are always the same, so the hydraulic braking force distribution relationship of the front and rear wheels does not change. For single-axle-driven electric vehicles, the additional regenerative braking force on the driven wheels will destroy the original braking force distribution relationship, resulting in reduced braking efficiency of the driven wheels, which are much easier to lock under poor road adhesion conditions.

2023-01-1629
Ammonia is employed as the carbon-free fuel in the future engine, which is consistent with the requirements of the current national dual-carbon policy. However, the great amount of NOx and unburned NH3/H2 in the exhaust emissions is produced from combustion of ammonia and is one kind of the most strictly controlled pollutants in the emission regulation. This paper aims to investigate the NOx and unburned NH3/H2 generative process and emission characteristics by CFD simulation during the engine combustion. The results show that the unburned ammonia and hydrogen emissions increase with an increase of equivalence ratio and hydrogen blending ratio. In contrast, the emission concentrations of NOx, NO, and NO2 decrease with the increasing of equivalence ratio, but increase with hydrogen blending ratio rising. The emission concentration of N2O is highly sensitive to the O/H group and temperature, and it is precisely opposite to that of NO and NO2.

2023-01-1645
Ammonia is a new type of carbon-free fuel with low cost, clean and safe. The research and application of zero-carbon fuel internal combustion engines has become the mainstream of future development. However, there still exist problems should be solved in the application of ammonia fuel. Due to the lower flame laminar speed and higher ignition temperature, ammonia may have unstable combustion phenomena. In this work, the characteristics of ammonia combustion have been investigated, based on controllable thermal activated atmosphere burner. The ignition delay has been used to analyze the ammonia combustion characteristics. With the increase in co-flow temperature, the ignition delay of ammonia/air has an obvious decline. In order to investigate the emission characteristics of ammonia, CHEMKIN is used to validate the different chemical reaction mechanisms and analyse the ammonia emissions.

2023-01-7018
Hydrogen energy is a kind of secondary energy with an abundant source, wide application, green, and is low-carbon, which is important for building a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system and achieving the goal of carbon peaking and being carbon neutral. In this paper, the effect of nozzle position, hydrogen injection timing, and ignition timing on the in-cylinder combustion characteristics is investigated separately with the 13E hydrogen engine as the simulation object. The test results show that when the nozzle position is set in the middle of the intake and exhaust tracts (L2 and L3), the peak in-cylinder pressure is slightly higher than that of L1, but when the nozzle position is L2, the cylinder pressure curve is the smoothest, the peak exothermic rate is the lowest, and the peak cylinder temperature is the lowest.

2023-01-7037
The multi-stack fuel cell system (MFCS) has the advantages of higher efficiency, stronger robustness and longer life, and could be widely used in high-power application scenarios such as automobiles, airplanes, trains, and ships. The appropriate air mass flow and air pressure have a crucial impact on the output power performance indicators of the MFCS. Considering that the designed integrated air supply system for the MFCS has significant gas supply hysteresis and strong coupling between the inlet air mass flow and air pressure of each stack, this paper identifies multiple steady-state operating points of the fuel cell system to obtain corresponding linear predictive models and establishes corresponding predictive control algorithms. The Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithms are switched in real-time based on the current load throughout the entire C-WTVC (China World Transient Vehicle Cycle) working condition.

2023-01-0433
The acoustic muffler is one of the practical solutions to reduce the noise in ducts. The acoustic and aerodynamic performances are two critical indices of one muffler for the air intake system of a hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). In this study, the concept of phononic crystal is applied to design the muffler to obtain superior acoustic performance. One duct with periodic and compact resonator-type mufflers is designed for broadband noise attenuation. The two-dimensional (2D) transfer matrix method and bandgap theory are employed to calculate the transmission loss (TL) and acoustic bandgap. It is numerically and theoretically demonstrated that broadband noise attenuation could be acquired from 500Hz to 3500Hz. Afterwards, the three-dimensional (3D) computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach is applied to predict the pressure distribution. The results indicate that the proposed hybrid muffler and the phononic crystal duct possess low pressure loss values.

2023-01-0456
Most centrifugal pendulum vibration absorber (CPVA) research focuses on the horizontal or vertical plane, ignoring the influence of gravity. However, with the wide application of CPVAs in the automobile industry, some gravity-related problems have been encountered in practice. In this study, employing the second kind of Lagrange equation, the differential equation of motion of a CPVA is established, and the first-order approximate analytical solution is solved using the method of multiple scales. The mathematical relations among the excitation torque amplitude and phase, gravity influence, absorber trajectory shape, absorber position, viscous damping coefficient, and mistuning level parameters are provided for study. Specifically, the second-order responses of four absorbers and two absorbers in a gravity field are studied, and the influence of the change in the torque excitation phase on the response of the absorber is thoroughly analyzed.

2023-01-0774
The displacement of the shaft head fails to be accurately measured while the three-axle heavy-duty truck is driving on the reinforced pavement. In order to obtain accurate fatigue load spectrum of the suspension bracket, the acceleration signals of the shaft heads of the suspension obtained by the reinforced pavement test measurement are virtually iterated as responses. A more accurate model of the rigid-flexible coupled multi-body dynamics (MBD) of the whole vehicle is established by introducing a flexible frame based on the comprehensive modal theory. Furthermore, the vertical displacements of the shaft heads are obtained by the reverse solution of the virtual iterative method with well-pleasing precision. The accuracy of the virtual iteration is verified by comparing the simulation results with the vertical acceleration of the shaft head under the reinforced pavement in the time domain and damage domain.

2023-01-0599
With the growing prosperity of the long-distance freight and urban logistics industry, the demand for cargo trucks is gradually increasing. The connecting bracket is the critical connecting part of the truck chassis, which bears the load transmitted by the road excitation and reduces the damage to the frame caused by the load. However, the occurrence of rough road conditions is inevitable in heavy-duty transportation. In this paper, road durability tests and fatigue life analysis are carried out on the original structure to ensure the safety of the vehicle. Based on the known boundary and load constraints, a lightweight and high-performance structure is obtained through size optimization, as the original structure cannot meet the performance requirements. Firstly, the road test was conducted on the truck where the original bracket structure is located.

The Pendulum Motion Measured Digital Photogrammetry for a Centrifugal Pendulum Vibration Absorber

2023-04-11
2023-01-0124
Centrifugal Pendulum Vibration Absorber (CPVA for short) is used to absorb torsional vibrations caused by the shifting motion of the engine. It is increasingly used in modern powertrains. In the research of the dynamic characteristics of the CPVA, it is necessary to obtain the real motion of the pendulum to compensate the fitting performance of mathematical model. The usual method is to install an angle sensor to measure the movement of the pendulum. On the one hand, the installation of the sensor will affect its movement to a certain extent, so that the measurement results do not match the actual motion. On the other hand, the motion of the pendulum is not only the rotational motion around the rotational axis of the CPVA rotor, but also has translation relative to it. As a result, it is difficult to obtain accurate motion only by the angle sensor. We proposed a non-contact centrifugal pendulum motion measurement method.

2023-01-0499
Electric centrifugal air compressor is one of the most important auxiliary components for the fuel cell engine, which has great impacts on the system efficiency, cost and compactness. However, the centrifugal compressor works at an ultra-high speed for a long time, which poses a great challenge to the lives of motor, bearing and seal. Therefore, reducing the rotating speed of the impeller and maintaining high pressure ratio and high efficiency are important issues for aerodynamic design of the compressor. In this paper, a centrifugal compressor rotor for a 100kW fuel cell system is designed. Aiming at reducing the rotating speed, the influences of three key structural parameters including inlet blade angle, outlet blade angle and blade outlet radius on performance are investigated. The aerodynamic performance of the compressor is predicted using the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with computational fluid dynamic (CFD) tools.

2023-01-0841
The roof sensor system is an indispensable part of intelligent vehicles to observe the environment, however, it deteriorates the aerodynamic and noise performance of the vehicle. In this paper, large eddy simulation and the acoustic perturbation equation are combined to simulate the flow and sound fields of the intelligent vehicle. Firstly, test and simulation differences of aerodynamic drag and pressure coefficients on the roof and rear of the intelligent vehicle without roof sensor system are discussed. It is found that the difference in aerodynamic drag coefficient is 5.5%, and the pressure coefficients’ differences at 21 out of 24 measurement points are less than 0.05. On this basis, under the influence of the sensor system, the aerodynamic drag coefficient of the intelligent vehicle is increased by 23.4%.
