Thermal Management Design and Simulation of Symmetric Air-Cooled System for Lithium Battery

Good heat dissipation of Lithium battery can prevent the battery from shortening its life due to rapid aging or thermal runaway. In this paper, an air-cooled structure of 5 series and 3 parallel battery packs is designed, which combines the advantages of series and parallel air ducts and optimizes the heat dissipation effect and the space ratio of air ducts. First, the heat generation model of NCR18650PF lithium battery is established, and the heat generation rate and time under different discharge rates are calculated. Combined with the working conditions of the battery itself, the necessity of battery pack heat dissipation was found.

Anti-Skid System for Ice-Snow Curve Road Surface Based on Visual Recognition and Vehicle Dynamics

Preventing skidding is essential for studying the safety of driving in curves. However, the adhesion of the vehicle during the driving process on the wet and slippery road will be significantly reduced, resulting in lateral slippage due to the low adhesion coefficient of the road surface, the speed exceeding the turning critical, and the turning radius being too small when passing through the corner. Therefore, to reduce the incidence of traffic accidents of passenger cars driving in curves on rainy and snowy days and achieve the purpose of planning safe driving speed, this paper proposes a curve active safety system based on a deep learning algorithm and vehicle dynamics model. First,we a convolutional neural network (CNN) model is constructed to extract and judge the characteristics of snow and ice adhesion on roads.

Topology Optimization Design on Cooling-Plate for Lithium-ion Battery Based on Electro-Thermal Model

A flow channel design of the battery liquid cooling plate is carried out through the variable density topology optimization method according to the heat dissipation requirements of lithium-ion power batteries under actual working conditions. Firstly, given the non-uniform heat generation of lithium battery cells, the heat generation mechanism is studied so that the battery electro-thermal model is established, then the distribution regularity of heat generation rate in the cell at different discharge rates is obtained. Subsequently, through COMSOL Multiphysics simulation software, the multi-objective topology optimization of the primary configuration radiator is conducted. The weights of the optimization objectives minimum temperature and minimum flow resistance are determined by practical engineering application. Finally, an optimized model with a volume fraction of 50% was obtained.

Research on Regenerative Braking Control Strategy of Commercial Vehicles Considering Battery Power Status

Regenerative braking is an effective way to increase the cruising range of vehicles. In commercial vehicles with large vehicle mass, regenerative braking can be maintained in a high-power working state for a long time theoretically because of the large braking torque and long braking time. But in fact, it is often impossible to run at full power because of battery safety problems. In this paper, a control strategy is designed to maintain the maximum power operation of regenerative braking as much as possible. The maximum charging power of the battery is obtained through the battery model, and it is set as the battery limiting parameter. The regenerative braking torque and power are obtained by using the motor model. The eddy current retarder is used to absorb the excess power that the battery can't bear, and the braking torque of the eddy current retarder is calculated. Finally, mechanical braking is used to make up the insufficient braking torque.

Pressure Drop and Heat Transfer Analysis of Power Battery Liquid Cooling System

The battery liquid cooling system can ensure that the battery works within a suitable temperature range, improve the safety performance of the battery system, and ensure the cruising range. This paper introduces a design scheme of a stamped double-parallel liquid cooling plate. Based on the STAR-CCM+ simulation software, a thermal simulation model of the battery management system is established to analyze the thermal behavior of the battery system and to study the effect of the inlet mass flow rate on the temperature of the top surface of the batteries. At the same time, with the analysis of the proportion of pressure drop of each component in the liquid cooling plate, an optimization of inserted part in the liquid cooling plate is proposed. The numerical analysis results are compared with the experimental results of the pressure drop to improve the effectiveness of the optimization scheme.

A Layered Active Balance System for Lithium-ion Power Battery Based on Auxiliary Power

In this paper, a high-efficiency and low-cost lithium-ion battery pack active balance system is designed. It adopts a distributed structure and consists of three parts: auxiliary power module, one-way isolated DC/DC conversion module, and a battery group. The battery single cells in the battery pack are layered and divided into m battery groups in total, and each battery group is composed of n battery single cells. Each battery group is connected to an isolated DC/DC conversion module, and all the conversion modules are connected in parallel with the auxiliary power. Taking the SOC average value of the all-single cells in one battery group as the balancing variable, the auxiliary power is controlled to charge the battery group with the lower SOC average value, so that the difference of the SOC average value of all battery groups is within the set threshold range, so as to realize the active balance of each battery group.

Research on Brake Pad Particle Emissions and Temperature Reduction of a Brake Disc in Air Controlling System

This paper addresses the brake pad particle emission during the braking process of a vehicle in motion. The frictional-constant contact between the disc brake and pads results in an increased temperature and wear of the pads. The emission of brake pad particles into the atmosphere leads to an increase in air pollution and hence becomes hazardous to the human body. In this paper, a wheel brake disc is installed in a ventilation system where the specific air flow is introduced in order to investigate the thermal performance and the emission of particles from the brake pads. A mathematical model using the fundamental parameters of the brake disc and ventilation system is established. The behavior of the heat transfer is studied using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The particle emission rate from the pads is calculated under the assumption of uniform constant pressure distribution at the contact surface of the brake disc and pad.

The sweeper vehicle plays a very key role in maintaining the urban environment. If the sweeper vehicle can accurately and efficiently identify and classify the ground garbage in the working process, it can greatly improve the working efficiency of the sweeper vehicle and reduce the consumption of manpower. Although the deep learning algorithm based on DUC and PSPNet has high accuracy, the recognition speed is low. ENet is a lightweight network, which greatly improves efficiency, but significantly sacrifices accuracy. This paper presents an improved real-time detection lightweight network based on PSPNet, which takes into account the operation speed and accuracy. The network takes PSPNet as the backbone network, and increases the stride in the convolution process, to reduce the size of the feature map and reduce the amount of calculation.

Research on Dust Suppression of Dump Truck

When dump trucks unload dusty materials, dust particles with a diameter of 1 to 75 microns slide out of the dump body and float into the air. Dust particles naturally settle down spending a few hours, which causes air pollution. People who work in this environment daily suffer serious physical harm. To study the movement of dust particles during the unloading process, a scaled-down model is used to simulate the process of dump truck unloading gravel, and a high frame rate camera is used to record the movement trajectory of dust particles during the unloading process. In this paper, by observing the movement process of unloading dust particles by dump trucks, based on the principle of dynamics, a mathematical model describing the unloading of dust particles in the dump body and a mathematical model of the diffusion of dust particles in the air are established. Take the small gravel sampled at the construction site as an example of the experiment.

This research proposes a new solution and realizes it through simulation optimization, which improves the energy consumption and emission problems of PHEV to a certain extent. First, on the basis that MATLAB software has completed the modeling of the key components of the vehicle, the fuzzy controller of the vehicle is established considering the principle of the joint control of the engine and the electric motor.

Research on the Dual-Motor Coupling Power System Strategy of Electric Sweeping Vehicle

The sweeping vehicle has made a great contribution to the cleaning of urban roads. The traditional electric sweeping vehicle uses the main and auxiliary motors to drive the driving system and the operating system respectively. However, because the sweeper is in a low-speed working condition for a long time, and the drive motor must meet the demand for high power, there exist problems of low motor utilization and high cost. Aiming at this phenomenon, a dual-motor power coupling system based on planetary gears is proposed. First, analyze the driving mode of the dual-motor coupling power system according to the actual working scheme of the sweeper, and match the parameters of the motor based on this. Second, on the premise of meeting the power requirements, analyze and divide the working range of each drive mode based on the principle of minimum energy consumption, and then obtain the best drive mode switching control and speed and torque distribution strategy.

Remaining Useful Life Prediction of Lithium-ion Battery Based on Data-Driven and Multi-Model Fusion

With the rapid development of new energy vehicles, the echelon utilization of retired power battery has become an important factor to promote the healthy development of this industry, while the Remaining Useful Life (RUL), as the key reference factor for the echelon utilization of retired power battery, has attracted the attention and research of many scholars in recent years. At present, most prediction methods are based on off-line data, which cannot process real-time data in time, so it is difficult to realize online prediction of RUL. In order to realize the real-time online monitoring and high-precision calculation of lithium-ion battery RUL, this paper proposes a lithium-ion battery RUL prediction method based on data-driven and multi-model fusion. The one-dimensional Convolutional Neural Network (1D_CNN) is used for fast online feature extraction of one-dimensional battery capacity time series data to mine potential hidden information.

Measurement and Evaluation of the Conversion of Thermal Energy Generated on the Contact Surface of the Brake Disc into Electrical Energy Using a Thermoelectric Generator

Heat generated by friction between the brake discs and the brake pad causes the disc temperature to rise, which affects the braking performance. This flux generated from the contact surface of the vehicle brake disc not only affects the braking performance but also tends to be wasted and pollutes the environment. However, an accurate system is needed to make efficient use of this generated heat flux, which is usually wasted. Thermoelectric generators (TEGs) are solid-state gadgets utilized in the conversion of heat to electricity. Hence, the aim of this study is to convert the heat flux generated at the disc contact surface into electrical energy by employing a thermoelectric generator. In Addition, the energy harvested energy to power the battery, which in turn charges the temperature monitoring systems. Thermoelectric generators were positioned at different geometrical points of the brake discs to achieve optimal efficiency and energy storage possibilities.

Analytical Modeling and Multi-Objective Optimization of the Articulated Vehicle Steering System

The articulated steering system is widely used in engineering vehicles due to its high mobility and low steering radius. The design parameters have a vital impact on the selection of the steering system assemblies, such as the operation stroke, pressure, and force of the hydraulic cylinders during the steering process, which will affect the system weight. The system energy consumption is also relevant to the geometry parameters. According to the kinetic analysis of the steering system and dynamic analysis of the steering process, the kinetic model of an engineering vehicle steering system is built, and the length and pressure variation of the cylinder is calculated and validated by the field test. The influence of the factors is analyzed based on the established model. To lower the system weight, needed pressure, and force, the multi-objective particle swarm optimization method is initiated to optimize the geometry parameter of the articulated steering system.

For series hybrid electric vehicles (SHEV), rule-based strategies are realistic and powerful in real-time applications. However, the previous rule-based strategy cannot strike a balance between the best fuel economy and the best battery performance while maintaining the advantages of real-time applications. In order to obtain higher efficiency and reduce battery consumption, we have developed an adaptive hybrid thermostat strategy. On the basis of maintaining the load leveling of the thermostat strategy, the threshold-changing mechanism is added to realize the adaptive adjustment of the engine starting power under different SOC conditions, so as to achieve the goal of prolonging the battery life. In addition, the more fuel-efficient emergency handling rules designed to further reduce comprehensive fuel consumption.

Through the braking energy recovery, the energy can be reused, the energy utilization rate can be improved, and the battery life of pure electric vehicles can be improved. In this paper, a pure electric vehicle is taken as the analysis object, and the whole vehicle analysis model is built. Through the comparative analysis, based on the driver's braking intention and vehicle running state, the braking energy recovery control strategy of double fuzzy control is proposed.

On the Effect of Low-Viscosity Oil on Automobile Pollutant Emissions Based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Cycle

In order to study the influence of low-viscosity oil on automobile pollutant emissions reduction, three different 0W20 oil samples were prepared with oil 5W30 as the base oil. Parameters such as the oil viscosity, ash, and element content were tested at different stages, speeds, and accelerations of the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Cycle (WLTC). The results showed the effects of low-viscosity oil on exhaust emissions reduction were mainly concentrated in the low-speed and extra high-speed segment. At the low-speed segment, especially in the starting stage, carbon monoxide (CO), total hydrocarbon (THC), and non-methane hydrocarbon (NMHC) emissions can be reduced. The use of low ash oil can reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions; the methane (CH4) emissions can be reduced by increasing the Zinc (Zn) content in engine oil moderately.

The lightweight design of a vehicle can save manufacturing costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For the off-road vehicle and truck, the chassis frame is the most important load-bearing assembly of the separate frame construction vehicle. The frame is one of the most assemblies with great potential to be lightweight optimized. However, most of the vehicle components are mounted on the frame, such as the engine, transmission, suspension, steering system, radiator, and vehicle body. Therefore, boundaries and constraints should be taken into consideration during the optimal process. The finite element (FE) model is widely used to simulate and assess the frame performance. The performance of the frame is determined by the design parameters. As one of the largest components of the vehicle, it has a lot of parameters. To improve the optimum efficiency, sensitivity analysis is used to narrow the range of the variables.

The protective devices are only the guardrails fixed on the vehicle body, so the protective effect is poor. In view of this situation, this paper designed a battery protection device for electric truck. When the truck is hit in a side collision, the transverse guardrail first generates plastic deformation and absorbs kinetic energy. At this time, the collision force is transmitted to the energy-absorbing box along the moving direction of the side collision vehicle, and the energy-absorbing box is contracted to produce a buffer effect.

Evaluation of Objective Drivability for Passenger Cars Based on Hierarchical Mixture Model: A Case Study of Downshift Condition

In order to solve the problems of insufficient accuracy for theoretical models and data-driven models for objective drivability evaluation requiring a large amount of data, an objective drivability evaluation method based on a hierarchical mixture model is proposed. First, a novel method of constructing a drivability evaluation system is developed, which combined by work breakdown structure (WBS) and analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Then, downshift condition is taken as a case study, and the subdivision condition is identified based on the hybrid mixture model. What's more, the drivability evaluation indexes of downshift condition are analyzed to establish the evaluation system of drivability.
