Sound Measurement - Construction Site

2021-07-15
CURRENT
J1075_202107
This SAE Standard sets forth measurement procedures and instrumentation to be used for determining a “representative” sound level during a representative time period at selected measurement locations on a construction site boundary. The document is not intended for use in determining occupational hearing damage risk. Determination of a representative time period is left to the judgment of the user.

Discriminating Back-Up Alarm System Standard

2008-12-04
WIP
J1741
This SAE Standard describes methods for evaluating the performance of the systems detection device, the minimum detection areas behind the machine, the visual and audible information presented to the operator and ground personnel, and the systems fault detection requirements. Also included are operator system function tests and maintenance procedures. The purpose of this document is to establish performance requirements for a Discriminating Back-Up Alarm System.

SEALED LIGHTING UNITS FOR CONSTRUCTION, INDUSTRIAL, AND FOREST MACHINERY

1994-06-01
HISTORICAL
J598_199406
This SAE Recommended Practice applies to floodlamp, headlamp, and general service lamp units intended for use on off-road self-propelled work machines classified as construction (1.1 and 1.2), general purpose industrial (2), and forestry machines (4), as noted in SAE J1116. Construction and Industrial Machinery is normally operated off highways; therefore, this document is not intended to be used as a basis for regulations by those having authority over motor vehicles used on public highways. Other performance and dimensional information is contained in SAE J572 and J760.

SOUND MEASUREMENT-EARTHMOVING MACHINERY-OPERATOR-WORK CYCLE

1987-07-01
HISTORICAL
J1166_198707
This SAE Standard sets forth the procedures to be used only in measuring sound levels and the determination of the time weighted sound level at the operator station(s) of earthmoving machinery. Earthmoving machinery is defined per SAE J1057 JUN81. This standard is applicable to earthmoving machinery which has operator station(s) where the operator can either stand or sit and is transported by the machinery during operation. The standard describes the instrumentation requirements and specifies work cycles for earthmoving machinery. The standard describes the method used to calculate the time weighted average sound level at the operator station(s) identified in the practice as Leq(5) for continuous operation of the work cycle. A method to relate the time weighted average sound level at the operator station(s) to operator sound exposure is also provided.
