Lift Capacity Calculation Method Scrap and Material Handlers

2019-04-15
CURRENT
J2518_201904
This SAE Standard provides a uniform method to calculate the lift capacity of scrap and material handlers, establishes definitions and specifies machine conditions for the calculations. This document applies to scrap and material handlers as defined in SAE J2506 that have a 360 degrees continuous rotating upper structure. It does not apply to equipment that is incapable of lifting a load completely off the ground. This document applies to those machines that are crawler, wheel, rail and pedestal or stationary mounted.

HISTORICAL
J326_201811
This SAE standard includes hydraulic backhoes which have no more than 190 degrees of rotational swing and are mounted on wheeled tractors and crawler tractors. Illustrations used are not intended to include all existing commercial machines or to be exact descriptions of any particular machine. The illustrations have been chosen to describe the principles to be used in applying this standard.

Hydraulic Backhoe Lift Capacity

2012-05-11
CURRENT
J31_201205
This standard applies to hydraulically operated backhoes (as defined in SAE J1116) This standard describes a uniform "over end" and "full swing arc" lifting capacity rating for backhoes. It is based on the actual capacity of the machine to lift and support a load under stable conditions. Rated lift capacities will be specified for both the boom and the dipperstick and will be shown on a lift capacity chart Figure 1.

Travel Performance and Rating Procedure, Crawler Mounted Hydraulic Excavators, Material Handlers, Knuckle Boom Log Loaders, and Certain Forestry Equipment

2012-01-06
CURRENT
J1309_201201
This SAE Standard describes a uniform method to calculate and specify travel performance characteristics of hydraulic excavators, material handlers, knuckle boom log loaders, delimbers, feller bunchers, harvesters, processors, and other knuckle boom material handlers. It establishes definitions and specifies machine conditions for calculations and tests. This document applies to crawler mounted machines such as hydraulic excavators as defined in SAE J/ISO 6165 and ISO 7135, and knuckle boom log loaders as defined in SAE J1209 and SAE J2055. This document also applies to certain forestry equipment defined in SAE J1209 and ISO 6814 that have crawler mountings such as delimbers, feller bunchers, harvesters, and processors. Included in the definition of hydraulic excavators are also front shovel, clamshell, and telescoping boom excavators.

Lift Capacity Calculation and Test Procedure-Pipelayer and Sideboom

2011-12-08
CURRENT
J743_201112
This SAE Standard describes a method to calculate and a test procedure to validate rated lift capacity as presented in commercial literature for pipelayers and tractors or loaders (wheel or crawler), equipped with a hydraulic or mechanically operated sideboom. Rated lift capacity considers hoist mechanism limits, tipping loads, and rope factor. After the lift capacity is validated by testing, a reduction factor is applied to establish the rated lift capacity for the specific pipelayer or sideboom configuration.

Loading Ability Test Procedure - Scrapers

2011-10-27
CURRENT
J764_201110
This SAE Information Report applies to all independent or combination construction and industrial machines that are designed to scraper-load and transport material. (See SAE J1116 and J1057a.)

Rated Operating Load for Loaders Equipped with Log or Material Forks Without Vertical Mast

2011-10-27
CURRENT
J1197_201110
This SAE Recommended Practice applies to wheel and crawler loaders when equipped with log or material handling forks without vertical masts, taking only hydraulic lift capacity and operating stability into consideration. It is recognized that specific operating conditions may allow larger, or require smaller loads than the rated operating load. Some conditions would require more careful or restricted operation with the rated operating load. This practice is not to be construed as setting up test procedures or conditions.

Machine Slope Operation Test Code

2003-05-12
CURRENT
J897_200305
This SAE Standard applies to off-road self-propelled construction, forestry and industrial machines as listed in categories 1, 2, and 4 of SAE J1116. Purpose This Standard provides a field procedure to determine the ability of a machine to operate statically and dynamically on sloping surfaces. Depending upon the objective of the test, any item listed as specified is to be selected at the discretion of either the manufacturer, the test agency, the owner, or a combination of these parties.

Capacity Rating--Elevating Scrapers

2003-05-12
CURRENT
J957_200305
This SAE Standard specifies a procedure for approximating the volume of a typical material carried in the bowl of an elevating scraper as defined in SAE J728 and SAE J1057. The volumes are based on the inside dimensions of the bowl and a representative volume on top of the bowl. This rating method is intended to provide a consistent means of comparing capacities; it is not intended to define actual capacities that might be observed in any specific application.
