Metallic Connections for Fluid Power and General Use - Part 3: NPTF Pipe Adapters and NPSM Adapter Unions

2022-06-09
HISTORICAL
J514/3_202206
This part of SAE J514 covers general and dimensional specifications for NPTF pipe adapters and 30 degree NPSM adapter unions. These fittings are intended for general application in hydraulic systems on industrial equipment and commercial products. These fittings are capable of providing leak-proof, full-flow connections in hydraulic systems operating at working pressures as specified in Table 6. Since many factors influence the pressure at which a hydraulic system will or will not perform satisfactorily, the values shown in Table 6 should not be construed as a guaranteed minimum. For any application, it is recommended that sufficient testing be conducted and reviewed by both the user and fitting manufacturer to assure that performance levels will be safe and satisfactory.

CURRENT
J1502_202205
SAE J1502 specifies dimensions, performance requirements, and test procedures for the male half of a diagnostic coupler with either a metric M14x1.5 or an inch 9/16-18 straight thread stud end. The coupler is designed for use with a mineral-based hydraulic fluid. It is used on machines specified in SAE J1116. It does not apply to the mating hydraulic quick action couplings not on the machine. Diagnostic couplings in accordance with SAE J1502 may be used at a working pressure of 42 MPa. The permissible working pressure depends upon the materials, design, working conditions, application, etc. Conformance to the dimensional information in this part of SAE J1502 does not guarantee rated performance. Each manufacturer should perform testing according to the specification contained in this document to ensure that components comply with the performance rating.

Information Report for the Installation of Fluid Conductors and Connectors

2022-01-21
CURRENT
J2593_202201
This SAE Information Report provides general information for installing and tightening fluid conductors and connectors. Following these guidelines, with the consistent proper use of torque wrenches, tightening procedures, and correct torque levels, will result in diminishing leaks and improving service life by avoiding hose twisting, tube binding, false torque, and improper joint closures. Since many factors influence the pressure at which a hydraulic system will or will not perform satisfactorily, this report should not be used as a “standard” nor a “specification,” and the values shown should not be construed as “guaranteed” minimums, maximums, or absolutes. This document is an information report to help users by gathering available information from the various connector standards and publishing the information in one source for easy retrieval and applied common usage. This SAE Information Report is primarily intended for mobile/stationary industrial equipment applications.

Connector for Fluid Power and General Use—Ports and Stud End with ASME B1.1 Threads and O-Ring Seal—Part 4: External Hex and Internal Hex Inch Port Plugs—Dimensions, Design, Test Methods and Requirements

2010-08-05
CURRENT
J1926/4_201008
This part defines performance requirements, dimensions, and designs for −2 through −32 internal and external hex port plugs for use in SAE J1926-1 ports. Testing and usage through many years confirm the performance requirements of port plugs made from carbon steel. The port plugs were specified in SAE J514 without any performance requirements. They have been developed and tested to gain a 4:1 working pressure rating for industrial applications. In fluid power systems, power is transmitted and controlled through a fluid (liquid or gas) under pressure within an enclosed circuit. In general applications, a fluid may be conveyed under pressure. Components are connected through their threaded ports by stud ends on fluid conductor fittings to tubes and pipes or to hose fittings and hoses. For threaded ports and stud ends specified in new designs in hydraulic fluid power applications, only ISO 6149 shall be used.

Fitting—O-Ring Face Seal

2009-01-13
CURRENT
J1453_200901
This SAE Standard covers material, dimensional, and performance requirements of steel O-ring face seal fittings for tubing and the O-ring face seal interface and nut portion of hose stem assemblies for nominal tube or hose diameters 6.35 mm (0.250 in) through 38.1 mm (1.500 in). These fittings are intended for general application and hydraulic systems on industrial equipment and commercial products, where elastomeric seals are acceptable to overcome leakage and variations in assembly procedures. These fittings are capable of providing leak-proof full flow connections in hydraulic systems operating from 95 kPa (28 in Hg) vacuum to working pressures shown in Table 1. Since many factors influence the pressure at which a hydraulic system will or will not perform satisfactorily, these values should not be construed as guaranteed minimums.
