Nadcap Requirements for Coatings

This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) establishes the requirements for suppliers of coatings services to be accredited by Nadcap in accordance with AS7003. The requirements contained herein may be supplemented by additional requirements specified by Nadcap Coatings Task Group. Using the audit checklist (PRI AC7109) will ensure that accredited Coatings suppliers meet all of the requirements in this standard and all applicable supplementary standards.

This Aerospace Standard (AS) is to be used as a supplement to either SAE AS7106 or SAE AS7107 for suppliers who have software (to include firmware) that comprises all or part of a product that will be delivered to the customer. This type of software is defined as Class I software in the core documents. All suppliers seeking NADCAP General Quality Systems accreditation who have Class I software shall conform to the requirements of this Standard.

This Aerospace Standard establishes the minimum requirements necessary for NADCAP accreditation of a General Quality System the meets, at a minimum, MIL-Q-9858. These requirements may be supplemented by additional requirements at the discretion of the NADCAP General Quality Systems Task Group. It is the intent of this standard to provide a harmonized quality standard that meets MIL-Q-9858, MIL-STD-45662, and the relevant portions of MIL-STD-1520. In addition to meeting these requirements as a minimum, an attempt has been made to harmonize the requirements of MIL-Q and the ISO9000 series of standards. Where similar requirements existed between these two standards, the more stringent requirement was imposed.

These requirements may be supplemented by additional requirements at the discretion of the NADCAP General Quality Systems Task Group. It is the intent of this standard to provide a harmonized quality standard that meets MIL-I-45208, MIL-STD- 45662, and the relevant portions of MIL-STD-1520. In addition to meeting these requirements as a minimum, an attempt has been made to harmonize the requirements of MIL-Q and the ISO9000 series of standards. Where similar requirements existed between these two standards, the more stringent requirement was imposed.
