Best Practices for Acquiring Digital Data from Passenger Vehicles

2020-09-25
WIP
J3239
The acquisition of digital evidence from automobiles has become commonplace, with the number of data sources within vehicles continually growing. To that end, the potential for evidence spoliation is real in that the acquisition of data from one source could interfere with the data stored in another source. The purpose of this recommended practice is to provide information to assist in eliminating or at least minimizing the potential for evidence spoliation and also providing guidance as to when decisions must be made to prioritize the order of data collection.

Impact Testing of Automated Vehicles

2021-05-11
WIP
J3255
Dynamic impact test represent various automotive collision conditions. The impact testing recommended practice is intended to recognize the capabilities of autonomous vehicles while at the same time recognizing the vehicle fleet into which they are introduced will consist of non-autonomous vehicles for a considerable period of time. The scope of the document is to cover the range of impact conditions expected taking into account the capabilities of the vehicle and the impact testing technology now available for performance evaluation including virtual and physical testing.

SLD capabilities of icing wind tunnels

2015-07-09
WIP
AIR6341
The purpose of this AIR is to compile in one definitive source, commonly accepted calibration, acceptance criteria and procedures for simulation of Supercooled Large Droplet (SLD) conditions within icing wind tunnels. Facilities that meet the criteria for either some or all of the recognized conditions will have known SLD icing simulation capability.

Guidance on Selecting a Ground-based Icing Simulation Facility

2013-04-24
WIP
AIR6247
This document is intended to serve two purposes: (1) provide a list of topics for potential customers to ask of the facility to aid their selection decision-making, and (2) provide a list of icing wind tunnel and engine test stand facilities that simulate flight through icing or ice crystal clouds.

USE OF MODELING AND TOOLS FOR AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT – A STRATEGY FOR DEVELOPMENT ASSURANCE ASPECTS WITH EXAMPLES

2013-04-30
WIP
AIR6276
This AIR addresses the use of Software tools to supplement or automate human activities in the development of systems, but not the hardware or software items within those systems. If a systems development tool is also used in the scope of hardware or software item development, for that usage it would then become subject to the guidance presented in DO-254 and DO-178B/C, respectively.

Using STPA During Development and Safety Assessment of Civil Aircraft

2018-02-13
WIP
AIR6913
This AIR will provide a basic understanding of STPA and how it can be applied to development and safety assessment of civil aircraft. It will explain, by way of an example, the information needed to begin STPA, the expected STPA outputs, and the phases of aircraft development and safety assessment that can be supported by STPA.

Human Considerations for Functional Hazard Assessments

2022-05-02
WIP
AIR7127
Clarify the role of the human considerations in Functional Hazard Assessments by identifying the sufficient input information regarding those considerations from the development process, how failure conditions may use that information, and what information the safety assessment process provides to other processes, particularly Human Factors, to assure those aspects of failure conditions are valid.

Ice Crystal and Mixed Phase Icing Tunnel Testing of Air Data Probes

2018-04-16
WIP
AIR6974
This document provides information on current practices for testing air data probes to 14 CFR Part 33 Appendix D ice crystal and mixed phase icing conditions. This AIR is primarily concerned with techniques for measuring the flow and icing environment in the test facility. While the focus of this report is the testing of air data probes, techniques described may be applicable to Appendix D tests of other aerospace equipment as well.

Ice and Rain Minimum Performance Standard for Angle of Attack (AOA) and Angle of Sideslip (AOS) Sensors

2020-08-26
WIP
AS6838
The new standard will establish minimum performance requirements for angle of attack (AOA) and angle of sideslip (AOS) sensors in ice and rain conditions. The new standard will cover the various sensor technologies used to measure these flow angles and is limited to the sensor itself as defined from the portion of the sensor that is directly exposed to the ice and rain environment to the means by which its output is relayed to the relevant aircraft systems. The user of this standard must evaluate the aircraft level installation requirements for the probe to ensure adequate coverage for the application. It may be necessary to modify the test conditions in order to meet the applicable installation requirements.
