This document describes the technical requirements, architectural options, and recommended interface standards to support an Autonomous Distress Tracking (ADT) System intended to meet global regulatory requirements for locating aircraft in distress situations and after an accident. This document is prepared in response to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and individual Civil Aviation Authorities (CAAs) initiatives.
The 12 papers in this techncial paper collection represent research in the areas of welding, riveting, joining, and fastening for automotive applications. Papers focus on the recent advances in the process optimization, analytical solution, numerical modeling, response evaluation as well as static and dynamic testing of traditional resistance spot welds, gas metal arc welds, friction stir spot welds, laser welds, rivets, mounts, adhesives, and fasteners.
This technical paper collection includes 8 papers from OEMs, suppliers, and academia detailing current brake engineering issues and technology. Topics covered include: NVH, controls, modeling, testing, brake drag, and hardware-in-the-loop evaluations.
This paper compares two different rule-based power management (PM) strategies, in terms of their resultant fuel consumptions, through a simulation study as applied to a hybrid hydraulic multi-actuator displacement controlled (DC) system. Presenter Rohit Hippalgaonkar
The field of motor vehicle rollover research and testing has been one of multiple and varied approaches, dating back to at least the 1930's. The approach has been as simple as tipping a vehicle over at the top of a steep hill ( Wilson et al., 1972 ), to as complex as releasing a vehicle from an elevated roll spit mounted to the rear of a moving tractor and trailer ( Cooper et al., 2001 and Carter et al., 2002 ). Presenter Peter Luepke, P Luepke Consulting
This presentation proposes an approach to use ABS wheel speed sensor signals together with other vehicle state information from a brake control module to detect an unbalanced tire or tires in real-time. The proposed approach consists of two-stage algorithms that mix a qualitative method using band-pass filtering with a quantitative parameter identification using conditional least squares. This two-stage approach can improve the robustness of tire imbalance or imbalances. The proposed approach is verified through vehicle testing and the test results show the effectiveness of the approach. Presenter Jianbo Lu, Ford Motor Co.
