Minimization of Electric Heating of the Traction Induction Machine Rotor

2020-04-14
2020-01-0562
The article solves the problem of reducing electric power losses of the traction induction machine rotor to prevent its overheating in nominal and high-load modes. Electric losses of the rotor power are optimized by the stabilization of the main magnetic flow of the electric machine at a nominal level with the amplitude-frequency control in a wide range of speeds and increased loads. The quasi-independent excitation of the induction machine allows us to increase the rigidity of mechanical characteristics, decrease the rotor slip at nominal loads and overloads and significantly decrease electrical losses in the rotor as compared to other control methods. The article considers the technology of converting the power of individual phases into a single energy flow using a three-phase electric machine equivalent circuit and obtaining an energy model in the form of equations of instantaneous active and reactive power balance.

2011-01-0039
As a rule, the work of electric drives of transport mechanisms arises with variable load and with different control laws of torque and speed. That leads to redistribution of losses components and demands take it in attention. In the report, the character change of the general losses and their components are compared in different type of electric drives under change of the load. In connection with this, it is paid attention to features of redistribution of losses in the perspective for transport mechanisms electric drive with field regulated reluctance machine. This machine is characterized by increased reliability, high specific parameters, simplicity of a design and control, and opportunity work in aggressive conditions. The opportunity realization of control laws in the electric drive with reluctance machine (with independent excitation) the same as in the electric drive of direct current machine makes perspective comparison of losses in these electric drives.

Power Distribution in Transmissions of Multi-Wheeled Vehicles

2016-04-05
2016-01-1103
The main indicators for mobility of a multipurpose wheeled vehicle are the maximum and average technical velocity (it is defined as the distance traveled divided by the time elapsed), and they are mainly determined by power-to-weight ratio and the parameters of the suspension. As our analysis shows, with the increase of the power-to-weight ratio of the vehicle and its weight, the growth rate of the velocity is reduced, and after reaching a certain value, the velocity remains almost constant. This is due to the fact that for operating conditions of the multi-purpose wheeled vehicle, movement on roads with different degrees of uneven distribution of the rolling resistance and adhesion, in both transverse and longitudinal directions, is typical.

In this paper, we consider a new design of synchronous motor with salient poles rotor and all coils placed on the stator. This design, uses a laminated silicon steel rotor, which is not so expensive as a rotor with super strong permanent magnets. This design of machine eliminates copper rings on the rotor and brushes which is used in regular synchronous motors, and eliminates disadvantages involved with these arrangements. In an earlier publication, authors considered the opportunity realization of synchronous mode operation in the machine with salient pole rotor and DC stator excitation. Now, we consider the new synchronous mode operation with individual DC excitation of each the alternative current (AC) windings for realization the first, second and third phase synchronous machines. In theoretical basics of analyses and design of synchronous motors we pay more attention to the single-phase motor because it is the basis for design polyphase synchronous machines.

2012-01-1621
In the paper, the new method of switching gears is considered in a car transmission box by changing distance between gear axles. The method has the following advantages: high speed switching gears, no needs of the gears synchronization, and easy automation of the process switching. In this case, difference angle speeds of switched gears produces an impact load in teeth of switched gears. Impact loads can be reduced by presence of oil in switched gears. Three stages of the process switching gears are considered when switching by change distance between gears axles. The analysis of the teeth loading is fulfilled for the most important phases of gear switching. As a result, it is concluded about perspective of a reduction of the dynamic loading of gear teeth due to the presence of the lubricating layer in the most loaded contact zone of gears.

2013-01-2469
A traction electric drive is offered for an industrial tractor. The drive contains the generator, the controlled rectifier, the independent inverters, and two onboard motors. The important feature of the offered electric drive is application of synchronous reactive machines of independent excitation as the generator and traction motors. These electric machines have the following technical features: the generator and motor design is brushless; and simple, the rotor has high mechanical rigidity that raises reliability at high speeds and overloads. There are no windings on the rotor; the motor is designed for ease of manufacture (by expert estimations its price is lower than the squirrel cage induction motor on the order of 15-20 %). The machines have increased efficiency a result of a “cold” rotor design; the motors have high torque overloads capacity (up to 4-6 times the values of nominal torque).

In transport applications, the synchronous motors are used for the power drives, because of their high operating efficiency, and controllable power factor. Brushless electrical machine with DC stator excitation have on the stator the armature and excitation windings. Rotor is a salient pole construction with laminated core and without coils. On base of this machine can be realized the DC machine. In the synchronous mode operation, there is no need the sensor of rotor position. It is need only alternative current (AC) voltage source. The advantages of the synchronous machine with DC stator excitation are: the simple brushless design, and controllable field excitation. In this paper, we consider the physical principle operation of a new machine with DC stator excitation in the synchronous mode operation. For analysis in a synchronous mode operation, the simplified model of electrical machine in steady state condition is used.

Energy-Efficient Traction Induction Machine Control

2019-04-02
2019-01-0598
The article solves the problem of increasing the energy efficiency of the traction electric drive in the low load conditions. The set objective is achieved by analogy with internal combustion engines by decreasing the consumed energy using the amplitude control of the three-phase voltage of the induction machine. The basis of the amplitude control is laid by the constancy criterion of the overload capacity with respect to the electromagnetic torque, which provides a reliable reserve from a "breakdown" of the induction machine mode in a wide range of speeds and loads. The control system of the traction electric drive contains a reference model of electromechanical energy conversion represented by the generalized equations of the instantaneous balance of the active and reactive power and the mechanical load. The induction machine is controlled by two adaptive variables: the electromagnetic torque and the voltage amplitude.

2015-01-2823
In this paper, we consider the hybrid power train for transportation of long pipes with big diameter. It is includes diesel engine for main towing vehicle and auxiliary electric drive for the active trailer The trains with active trailers are necessary at the building of oil and natural gas pipelines in no road conditions and marshlands. Due to the electric drive, the trailer's off-road capability on marshland conditions is sharply increased and its control is facilitated. The specified attractive qualities are appeared, if wheels of the trailer are executed as drivable, and the kinematic circuit of a drive is fulfilled as one-stage. At this, it is taken in attention that power of the electric drive will take 20 - 25 % from rated power of the basic traction drive, with the expanded range of torque control (till 1:10 and more). Such overloads are provided by the electric drive with synchronous reluctance machine of independent excitation developed by authors.

The main indicators for mobility of a multipurpose wheeled vehicle (MWV) are the maximum and average technical velocity, and they are mainly determined by power-to-weight ratio and parameters of the suspension. As our analysis shows, with the increase of the power-to-weight ratio of the vehicle and its weight, the growth rate of the velocity is reduced, and after reaching a certain value, the velocity remains almost constant. This is due to the fact that for operating conditions of the multipurpose wheeled vehicle, movement on roads with different degrees of uneven distribution of the rolling resistance and tire traction, in both transverse and longitudinal directions, is typical. In this investigation we evaluate the effectiveness of the main methods of power distribution between the drive wheels of the multipurpose wheeled vehicles: disabling of drive axles, blocking of cross-axle and inter-axle differentials, a slowdown of slipping wheels.

Three Zone Permanent Magnetic Structures and Their Applications

2015-04-14
2015-01-0141
Linear electric motors designed on the basis of permanent magnets have disadvantage. It is caused by nonlinear distribution of a magnetic flux density around the cylindrical permanent magnet. Therefore, the motors should be designed with the high level reserve power. It lids to increase of mass - dimensional parameters of a motor. In addition, it complicates a control system of an electric drive on base of the linear motor. These disadvantages are eliminated by using, offered by authors, of three-zoned permanent magnetic structures. Using the three zone magnetic structures on basis Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets allows reducing weight - dimensional parameters of the linear motor. In this paper is considered design technique of creation the tree zone magnet structure. As an example, it was designed linear electrical motor (actuator) for diesel speed electronic controller. Prototype electronic speed controller was build and tested.

Method of Calculating of Relay Type Free-Wheel Mechanism

2015-09-29
2015-01-2782
Free-wheel mechanisms transmit rotary motion in only one direction. They are widely used, for example, in hydraulic transformers, pulsed continuous transmissions, inertial automatic torque transformers, electrical starters for motors, and metal- and wood-working drives. Unfortunately, existing free-wheel mechanisms are insufficiently reliable and durable and in many cases limit the reliability of the drive as a whole. Thus, the insufficient life of free-wheel mechanisms delays the use of inertial automatic continuous transmissions, which have many benefits over existing transmissions. In most known free-wheel mechanism, the whole torque is transmitted through locking elements such as balls, rollers, eccentric wheels, pawls, slide blocks, and wedges, whose operation at large loads may limit the life of the mechanism.

The problem of the theory of power transmission to wheels of a vehicle, as part of the theory of cars, has always been in the center of attention of specialists. With the improvement of designs of a vehicle there was a need of thorough scientific review of theoretical and experimental aspects of creating and applying of mechanical, hydrostatic, electrical, and combined transmissions. This has always remained one of the most important questions of the rational allocation of power among drive wheels. In the present paper, it has been done study of different methods of power distribution among the drive wheels of an all-wheel-drive truck, namely: method of partial solution; method of introducing a rigid kinematic connection; method of periodical action; and method of limit of excessive action. Assessment how these methods influence on the performance characteristics of a multi-purpose vehicle has been done.

2017-01-1575
Trucks are one of the most common modes of transport and they are operated in various road conditions. As a rule, all-wheel drive trucks are equipped with special systems and mechanisms to improve their off-road capability and overall efficiency. The usage of blocked mechanisms for power distribution is one of the most popular and effective ways to improve the off-road vehicle performance. However, the lock of differential may adversely affect the stability and control of vehicle because of the unobvious redistribution of reactions acting on wheels, which consequently leads to poor performance and safety properties. Problems of rational distribution of power in transmissions of all-wheel drive vehicles, as well as research in the field of improving directional stability and active safety systems are among the priorities in modern automotive industry.

The brushless DC motors with permanent magnets are used primarily in law power applications. There are no limits on weight and motor dimensions in considered motors with DC stator excitation. Brushless series connected machine with DC stator excitation do not have rotor coils. Field coil and armature coils are mounted in the stator. Armature windings are connected to DC voltage source trough power transistors commutator. Power transistors are controlled by reflective optical sensors in function of rotor position. In the report, the new principle design of the motor with DC stator excitation is considered. The new principle of design supposes individual excitation for each of the armature phase. Such approach gives an opportunity to design electrical machine with any number of armature phases spaced in phase from each other. In series connected DC machines, the field winding is connected in series with the armature winding.

DC Motor with Salient Poles Rotor and All Coils Placed on the Stator

2016-01-0001
DC motors are the most controllable electrical machines but more complicated for fabrication, in comparison with induction motors having simplified design but more complicated for control. Regular DC motor contain excitation (field) coil on the stator and armature coil on the rotor. Armature coil connected with external voltage source by a mechanical commutator with brushes. This arrangement complicates fabrication of DC machine, increases its cost, lowered reliability, and demands regular maintenance. Electromagnets inside of the stator increase dimensions of DC motor. In DC motor with salient pole rotor, there are no coils on the rotor, and mechanical commutator with brushes is eliminated, and eliminated all disadvantages connected with this arrangement. In this paper, we consider the new version of DC machine with DC stator excitation in compare with presented earlier. The difference is in using individual coil excitation for each armature coil, placed on the stator.
