New four-chamber rotary engine could supplant Wankel and piston engines for UAV applications

2018-09-24
A new configuration of a rotary engine – the Szorenyi rotary engine – has been developed by the Melbourne-based Rotary Engine Development Agency (REDA). While the stator, or stationary part of the Szorenyi engine is similar to that of a Wankel engine, the geometric shape of the engine rotor is a rhombus, which deforms as it rotates inside the contour of the stator.

Automation streamlines accreditation to speed aerospace and defense technology deployment

2018-12-07
Automated software tools are eliminating weeks, if not months, from the Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation process by virtually eliminating the time of the initial hardening while also providing the required documentation. By doing so, technology integrators can significantly reduce the time to build, test, and deploy new technologies in Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)-compliant environments.

Parker Aerospace wins Cessna Denali bleed air control system contract

2018-08-15
Having successfully completed the development-testing phase, Parker Aerospace’s BACS modulates high-pressure bleed air from the engine, which is used to draw cool ambient air from outside the aircraft as it takes off. Once the outside air pressure is too low to draw in and the bleed air temperatures are cooler, the BACS will transition to use only low-pressure bleed air to pressurize the cabin.
